We are looking for a Software Engineer to join Square Peg’s Technology team and help build internal products that directly support and reshape how our global investment teams work.

Advances in AI are changing how global investment teams operate. We are already applying AI to increase the pace, breadth and depth of how our teams research, prepare, learn and make decisions.

You will design and build internal tools, workflows and systems that maximise investors' efficiency, expand coverage across companies and markets and evolve existing internal products embedded in real investment workflows.

You will work closely with our investment teams, initially focused on our listed equities fund (Global Tech Fund) and increasingly across our Venture teams, while operating from and contributing to a central technology roadmap. This is a product-oriented engineering role in which well-designed internal products materially improve how our teams operate and scale their work.

Core responsibilities

  • Build and evolve internal products and tooling used in real investment workflows across our teams.
  • Take existing ideas, AI prototypes and experiments and develop them into durable, scalable internal capabilities that can be reused and extended over time.
  • Design and implement applied AI, LLM-enabled and machine learning workflows that create clear leverage while maintaining trust, reliability and accuracy.
  • Integrate data sources, third-party tools and internal systems into cohesive products that fit naturally into how our teams work and the infrastructure that supports them.
  • Undertake exploratory, data-driven work to test ideas, surface insights and inform which opportunities should evolve into durable internal capabilities.
  • Contribute to shaping the technical roadmap for investment tooling across listed equities and venture capital, identifying where technology can meaningfully increase leverage.
  • Work in short, iterative cycles, incorporating feedback from investment teams, while collaborating within the Technology team to maintain quality, reliability and momentum.

What success looks like

  • Internal products and tooling you build are actively used and relied on in day-to-day workflows, delivering clear ROI.
  • Manual effort for investment teams, including repetitive analysis and ad-hoc workarounds, is meaningfully reduced through shared internal capabilities.
  • What you build is designed to scale beyond individual use cases. You operate with increasing autonomy and judgement, helping shape what should be built as well as how it is delivered.

About you

  • 2–5 years of experience shipping code in a venture-backed startup or similarly fast-moving environment.
  • Experience owning work across the full lifecycle from problem discovery through to launch and iteration.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, with comfort building and refining end-to-end solutions rather than working only on isolated components.
  • Regularly use modern development tools, including AI-assisted coding and automation, to move quickly and increase personal productivity.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and evolving problem spaces, where sound judgement matters as much as technical execution.
  • Ownership of outcomes rather than just tasks, with curiosity about how technology can meaningfully improve how teams work.
  • A strong appetite for experimenting with new tools and technologies, including AI-assisted workflows and applied ML. Comfortable with data wrangling and database work as well as working across the full stack. Our environment constantly evolves but includes Python, Node.js, Postgres, AWS, third-party API integrations.
