We're hiring! Data Engineering Lead

About the role:

We're seeking a Data Engineering Lead to advance and scale our data infrastructure, giving our global team superpowers! As a key early technical hire, you'll have significant influence in shaping our data strategy and architecture. You'll bring technical leadership and hands-on expertise to evolve our existing data platforms and implement new solutions that strengthen our investment and operational processes across Australia, Israel, and Southeast Asia.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Lead the technical implementation and evolution of our data platforms, building solutions that enhance our investment and operational capabilities.
  • Design and develop a scalable AWS-based data infrastructure that enables automated data ingestion, processing, and analysis from multiple sources.
  • Create and maintain robust data pipelines that efficiently process, transform, and integrate data across our systems and regions.
  • Enhance and scale our existing machine learning systems, applying advanced techniques to further improve our ability to evaluate opportunities.
  • Develop automated data enrichment processes that maximise the value of our data assets and provide deeper insights.
  • Develop analytics capabilities that provide actionable insights and metrics to support strategic decision making.
  • Guide the evolution of our data architecture to support future capabilities while ensuring scalability and flexibility.
  • Collaborate with investment and operations teams to make strategic decisions around tools and technologies.
  • Ensure solutions integrate seamlessly with existing workflows, meeting our team where they live.
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies and approaches as they emerge in the data and AI landscape.
What success looks like:
  • Build solutions that our team actively adopts because they genuinely enhance their workflows and productivity.
  • Successfully implement data infrastructure that enables tangible improvements in workflows across all regions.
  • Create scalable systems that can evolve alongside our needs while maintaining reliability.
  • Establish data engineering practices that balance innovation with practical, maintainable implementation.
About you:
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in data engineering roles, with a proven track record of leading significant data initiatives.
  • Strong data engineering background with expertise in Python (with node.js understanding being beneficial) and familiarity with AWS cloud services as well as Supabase and Pinecone.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing end to end data pipelines that ingest data from diverse sources (APIs, databases, files and custom captured), transform it efficiently and make it readily available.
  • Experience working in fast-paced startup environments or innovative tech teams where you’ve built systems from the ground up.
  • Experience implementing and scaling machine learning systems with a track record of balancing flexibility and maintainability in data infrastructure while delivering tangible business impact.
  • Strategic thinker who can maintain the right balance between pragmatism and technical excellence. You enjoy architecting solutions and writing the code to bring them to life.
  • Comfortable working in a lean team environment where you’ll wear multiple hats and have broad impact.
  • Strong communicator who can explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders and work effectively across diverse teams.
  • Excited about being an early technical leader who will shape our data foundation, driven by genuine curiosity and passion for transforming AI technologies into competitive advantages.
